Meet your new Dragon Oldbury team 🐉
Next up, meet Paul “Chalky” White – Supervisor at Dragon Asphalt Oldbury.
Chalky brings a huge amount of hands-on experience to the team, with 16 years in fabrication, 4 years as a maintenance fitter with Mixlance, and a further 13 years at Holcim Express Asphalt’s Darlaston plant, where his responsibilities covered supervision, weighbridge and batching.
One of the things that really stands out in Chalky’s career is his focus on plant reliability. During his time in maintenance, he helped take a plant from suffering regular breakdowns to running for nine months without a single breakdown.
That matters to us because our customers deserve reliability.
They deserve to know that when they arrive at Dragon, the plant is running, the material is ready and we are doing everything we can to get them loaded and back on the road quickly. Chalky’s experience, practical mindset and understanding of what keeps a plant performing will be a massive part of helping us deliver exactly that at Oldbury.
Away from work, Chalky is a dedicated family man who enjoys spending time with his family, nights out and exploring new places.

Next up, meet Owen Rees – Site Operative at Dragon Asphalt Oldbury.
Owen may be new to the asphalt industry, but he brings exactly the kind of attitude and energy we want in the Oldbury team.
With a background in sport, coaching, refereeing and fast-paced customer service environments, Owen already understands the importance of teamwork, communication, discipline and performing under pressure.
His experience as a football referee and coach has also helped him develop confidence, decision-making and leadership skills, while his previous customer-facing roles have taught him the value of reliability, high standards and delivering a great service as part of a strong team.
Owen brings fresh energy, a willingness to learn and a real determination to develop his skills as he starts his career in the industry.
We know that world-class service is built by great teams, and Owen is another important part of the team we’re building at Oldbury.

Next up, meet Andy Baker, Site Operative at Dragon Asphalt Oldbury.
Andy joins the team with more than 20 years of experience across asphalt, quarrying and plant operations, having worked with everything from asphalt mixing plants and weighbridges to crushing, screening and mobile plant. Most recently, he has been working on a busy asphalt collect plant, so he knows exactly what it takes to keep production moving and customers on the road.
He also brings extensive experience operating and maintaining major plant, alongside a strong understanding of health & safety and the importance of dealing with breakdowns quickly and effectively.
Reliable, experienced and with a genuine pride in doing the job properly, Andy will be a key part of the Oldbury team as we work to deliver the fast, dependable service our customers expect from Dragon.

Meet your new Dragon Oldbury team – Chris Guest
With our new Oldbury site opening on 1st September, we’re introducing the people who will be driving it forward.
First up is Chris Guest, Business Manager at Dragon Asphalt Oldbury.
Chris brings over 17 years of asphalt industry experience, built across the West Midlands, giving him a strong understanding of both the operational side of the industry and the needs of local customers.
Since joining Dragon in 2025, Chris has played an important role in the development of Oldbury, bringing fresh ideas, local market knowledge and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
What really stands out, though, is his passion for customer service. Chris is relentless about getting things right, keeping customers informed, solving problems quickly and making sure the experience of dealing with Dragon is as easy and reliable as possible.
That focus will be central to what we want Oldbury to become: a dependable, responsive asphalt supplier for the Black Country, built around great service, fast turnaround times and strong local relationships.
And in Chris’s words, the objective is simple:
"Keep the customers happy, keep the plant running smoothly, and keep the asphalt hot, black and sticky".

Dragon are easy to deal with and turnaround is the best around. When other suppliers have let us down, Dragon Asphalt have reacted quickly and efficiently to open their plant and supply us at the last minute even on a Sunday afternoon!
Dragon Asphalt have supplied us with materials to service our Wales and West Utilities contract in South Wales since September 2018. I can confirm that all materials have been supplied as per specification but also to a good standard, and Dragon Asphalt have acted swiftly, professionally and in line with our expectations to rectify any concerns.

The option to turn up and order makes things so much easier for us as a whole and the low quantity ordering is great for the environment, with very little waste material. I would like to add that the onsite store for all consumable products and tools is a massive help.
